Day7: Wild Design(野生设计) Discovery

Today I decided to go out with a friend of mine who just comes to Beijing to search for some other type of inspiration without particular purposes. We went to Beijing traditional building and streets called Siheyuan & Hutong.
Wild design is a term in Chinese to describle a certain type of design orginated not from specialize-trained designers, but simply from daily life needs, for very solid purposes
under certain specific context. Wild design means that everyone can be designers by themselves in daily life.
Observation
I observe those weird boards leaning by the side of the wheels of almost every car parked in Hutong. Those boards actually tries to prevent dogs from peeing on the tires! Interestingly you can see from my photos, whether its Mercedes S-class or three-wheel car, they all share the same wild design idea.
Why Do Dogs Pee on Tires?
A tire is a smorgasbord of scents and your dog is just joining a party for a dog’s senses. Dogs prefer to pee on things that are vertical, like poles, fire hydrants, and tire wheels. When dogs pee on a vertical object, they’re putting their mark at nose level, which is much better than the ground.

Reflection
